The skiing legend Assured of Being 'in prime form' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following securing a podium spot for the fourth time in her last five World Cup events.

The 41-year-old, who achieved a milestone by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super giant slalom in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup podium finish.

Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere

Racing in the iconic venue for the first time in eight years, Vonn crossed the line in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was just over a third of a second behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking the runner-up spot.

"I didn't quite have the right line on the initial jump," Vonn said. "Subsequently, I skied well. I'm pleased with my performance today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough."

This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere during the event, having also taken third in the downhill race on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Injury

Vonn ended her career in early 2019 due to persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in December 2024 after a partial knee replacement.

With 47 days remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She already possesses one gold and two bronze medals from previous Games and is strongly positioned to compete for the United States at the 2026 Games.

"In Cortina, I will be in a good place," Vonn affirmed.

Chasing More Titles

In addition to her Games aspirations, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four World Cup titles she has won over a professional journey spanning 20 years.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the overall downhill standings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings.

This season's World Cup circuit includes a total of nine races scheduled before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
