George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden championship series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now connected for 23 playoff homers, placing him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that moment besides Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" after his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their work throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of the series," he added.
Toronto won the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
